People are worn out on untrustworthy, fickle, and insecure individuals who are disguising themselves as “leaders.” A recent meme from “somecards” says it best “You’re not a Leader if nobody wants to follow you… You’re just a control freak, power-tripping jerk who wants to be in charge.”

For years, employers have been frustrated about how hard it is to find good, loyal, and talented people to fill open roles.  People want to trust their leaders and/or those in authority. In addition to common values and beliefs, people are looking for clear direction, guidance, and a flexible environment where it is ok to share their ideas and perspectives for the betterment of the group.

Consistency builds trust because people can predict how you or a leader will react in situations. Inconsistency, on the other hand, creates anxiety and fear creating an imbalanced unproductive environment.  If you are a business owner looking to attract top talent, take a pulse of your strengths and weaknesses as a leader and those you have in key positions in your organization.  If you want to inspire and motivate others, watch this episode of Your Tribe for high-value insights that can change how you approach interacting with yourself and others.

As a bonus, in this episode, Aimee Allen shares a real-life example of trust as she watched a family of bears walk through her backyard.  Watch now and learn more!
