The Strategic Plan. In some organizations, the strategic plan is a great work of fiction. It may be written off-site by a group of people having a few days away from the office. Once read, it goes on the top shelf and becomes an expensive dust bunny.

In other organizations, it is the online, real-time roadmap to sustainable success. When treated by owners and management as a roadmap, the plan tells everyone in the organization what to expect; when to expect it; who will be responsible for getting it done; what resources will be available for getting it done; and what it will look like when it’s completed.

Used properly, your strategic plan can be an innovative tool that fosters accountability and a sense of urgency within your organization.

So, dust bunny or innovative roadmap?

The choice is yours.
